Today I completed the first Joshua Tree National Park lonelyspeck.com workshop. While I spent most of the time teaching, I managed to take a few photographs as the galactic center started to rise. This photo is from the same spot as yesterday but features a wider view of the scene. We arrived here at 4 am, just in time to see Venus and the galactic center rise above the horizon. The temperature got down to a brisk 14°F (-10°C) this morning, just about the coldest I’ve ever been while shooting astrophotos.
